Otkrio ju je Pjer Me\u0161en, francuski astronom, 1781. godine. \u0160arl Mesije je, iste godine, uvrstio ovu galaksiju u svoj katalog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; M85 interaguje sa jo\u0161 dve galaksije \u2013 spiralnom galaksijom NGC 4394 i elipti\u010dnom galaksijom MCG 3-32-38. Pretpostavlja se da se galaksija M85, pre 4 do 7 milijardi godina spojila sa nekom manjom galaksijom.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Od Zemlje je udaljena oko 60 miliona svetlosnih godina i ima prividnu magnitudu 9,2. Sadr\u017ei oko 400 milijardi zvezda od kojih je ve\u0107ina dosta stara. Medjutim, u centralnom delu galaksije se mogu na\u0107i relativno mlade zvezde, stare oko 3 miliona godina. Istra\u017eivanja pokazuju da se u jezgru ove galaksije nalazi <a href=\"https:\/\/sr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\u0421\u0443\u043f\u0435\u0440\u043c\u0430\u0441\u0438\u0432\u043d\u0430_\u0446\u0440\u043d\u0430_\u0440\u0443\u043f\u0430\" class=\"rank-math-link\">supermasivna crna rupa<\/a> \u010dija se masa procenjuje na oko 100 miliona Sun\u010danih masa i koja je 25 puta masivnija u odnosu na crnu rupu koja se nalazi u centru Mle\u010dnog puta. 1960. godine, severno od centra galaksije prime\u0107ena je <strong>supernova<\/strong> sa magnitudom 11,7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Najbolji period za posmatranje<\/strong> ove galaksije jeste prole\u0107e.
