Dvojnu zvezdu \u010dini par zvezda koje na okupu dr\u017ei sila gravitacije i koje se okre\u0107u oko njihovog zajedni\u010dkog centra mase. Masivnija i sjajnija zvezda naziva se primarnom i obele\u017eava se slovom A, dok je ona sa manjom masom sekundarna i obele\u017eava se slovom B. Sekundarna zvezda se naziva jo\u0161 i pratilac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dok je tra\u017eio maglinu u sazve\u017edju Veliki medved, \u0160arl Mesije je umesto magline uo\u010dio dvojnu zvezdu i uvrstio je u svoj katalog, 1764. godine, pod rednim brojem 40.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Masa zvezde A je 1.1 mase Sunca, a masa zvezde B 1,2 mase Sunca. Udaljenost zvezde A je oko 1140 svetlosnih godina, dok je zvezda B bli\u017ea nama i udaljena je oko 460 svetlosnih godina.
