U M katalogu nose oznaku M45. Naziv &#8216;Plejade&#8217; dolazi iz gr\u010dke mitologije. To su sedam k\u0107eri Atlanta i Plejone &#8211; Alcyone, Asterope (dvojna zvezda), Electra, Maia, Merope, Taygeta i Celaeno; koje progoni Orion sve dok ih Zevs nije pretvorio prvo u golubice, a zatim u zvezde. Orion je takodje stavljen na nebo gde nastavlja ve\u010dno da progoni lepe Plejade, ali nikad ih ne sti\u017ee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Starost ovog jata je oko 100 miliona godina. Procenjuje se da \u0107e se jato dr\u017eati na okupu jo\u0161 nekih 250 miliona godina a da \u0107e posle toga pod drugim gravitacionim uticajima raspasti. Udaljenost ovog zvezdanog jata od zemlje je 380 svetlosnih godina i vidljivo je golim okom sa prividnom magnitudom &nbsp;+4.17. Jezgro je pre\u010dnika oko 8 svetlosnih godina , a sadr\u017ei preko 1000 potvr\u0111enih \u010dlanova. Njegova ukupna masa se procenjuje na oko 800 solarnih masa. Jato ima mnogo sme\u0111ih patuljaka , zvezda koje imaju manje od 8% Sun\u010deve mase i koje nisu uspele da gravitacionim sa\u017eimanjem postignu dovoljno visoku temperaturu za otpo\u010dinjanje procesa nuklearne fuzije. Smatra se da od svih objekata u jatu njih ima oko 25 % ali da \u010dine samo 2% mase jata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-gfd2d8f\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-gfd2d8f gutentor-element gutentor-element-image text-align-center-desktop\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/fizika.pmf.ni.ac.rs\/nocistrazivaca2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/unnamed.jpg\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Maglina Plejada je plavi\u010daste boje, \u0161to ukazuje na to da je ovo <strong>refleksiona maglina<\/strong> i ona reflektuje svetlost sjajnijih zvezda iz njene blizine.
